In the late ’90s, brothers Shep and Ian Murray left mundane jobs to pursue the Good Life. Originating on Martha’s Vineyard, their journey unfolded from bands and businesses to purchasing a boat for fishing and escape. Their American Dream pursuit marked a transition from suits to swimwear. From the Vineyard to California, Vineyard Vines expanded, becoming the Official Style of prestigious events like the Kentucky Derby and the Head of the Charles Regatta. The brand evolved beyond ties to offer performance gear, comfortable layers, and beachy swimwear. Despite growth, Vineyard Vines remains committed to fun, Real Good People, and sharing the Vineyard’s spirit.

In 2006, the Murray brothers shifted focus to share customers’ stories, celebrating real connections over models. Vineyard Vines, founded in 1998, started with backpack-sold ties on Martha’s Vineyard, quickly growing into a renowned high-end clothing and accessory retailer, known for its iconic pink whale logo. Embodying a preppy style, the brand’s success is rooted in the philosophy of “living the good life,” evident in their slogan “Every day should feel this good.”
